Welcome to all Tolkien Aficionados, Ringers, fantasy fans and language/writing enthusiasts!
If you are looking to learn the Elvish writing system created by Professor J.R.R. Tolkien - also known as the tengwar - then this blog will be an excellent resource for you!
Now, I do not claim to be an expert in the tengwar, but I have researched it extensively and feel confident in my ability to provide aid to others wanting to learn.
That being said, I admit that I will most likely make mistakes from time to time. If you see any, please let me know so that I can correct the information.
And last but not least, with all things considered, Tolkien’s own writings (if available) will be considered the top authority in matters of uncertainty.
If you have questions about a particular study guide/exercise, or about the Tengwar in general, or would like to request a transcription, please submit them by clicking on “Ask a Question/Request a Transcription”.
If you have text that you or someone else has written in Tengwar and you would like me to check its correctness, please submit it by clicking “Request Critique.”
"No language is justly studied merely as an aid to other purposes. It will in fact better serve other purposes, philological or historical, when it is studied for love, for itself." - J.R.R. Tolkien
